Drainage & French Drains in Glenpool

Glenpool sits on US-75 at the south edge of Tulsa County, on the eastern edge of the Cross Timbers, where the Great Plains start giving way to the foot of the Ozarks. Almost the whole town drains to Polecat Creek, which runs on to meet the Arkansas River at Jenks.

The town takes its name from the Glenn Pool oil field, which started with a gusher in November 1905. The calls today are about subdivision lots and small acreage on ground that was pasture not long ago: back yards graded flat, shops set on new pads, and yards that send water somewhere nobody planned for it to go.

The fixes are dirt work. Regrading puts fall back into a yard, a swale carries runoff around a house or shop, and a French drain or surface drain gives water from a low spot a route out. See French drain installation for drains on their own, and the Glenpool page for pads, drives and the rest of the work in town.

Earthworks by Justin is owner-operated. Call (918) 240-3392 or send the form, and Justin will set up a time to walk it with you.

Who to call about a wet backyard in Glenpool

For anything public, such as a street, a city ditch or a storm inlet that is not carrying, start with the City of Glenpool at city hall. Outside city limits, ask Tulsa County. If the lot is in a subdivision with a shared drainage area, the homeowners association may have a say in what drains where, so ask before work starts.

Water that sits on your own lot is private, and moving it is dirt work. Justin looks at the whole lot, not just the puddle: where the water comes from, which way the ground falls and where it can legitimately go. If regrading alone will do it, that is what you will hear.

What moves the cost of yard drainage in Glenpool

The fix is the first thing. Regrading part of a yard is a different job from a drain across the whole back of the lot. The second is the outlet: daylight at a low corner is a short run, while a route to the street or a roadside ditch is a longer one.

On small acreage, the length of the run and the condition of the ditches and culverts along the road come into it. On subdivision lots it is more about access through gates, fences and sprinklers, and how much sod and bed has to be put back. Justin prices it after he has seen it. The French drain cost guide covers the price drivers in more detail.

Shop roofs, downspouts and roof water in Glenpool

A shop roof is a big catchment, and a shop set on a fresh pad in former pasture can send all of it into the yard. The same goes for a house with downspouts emptying into beds against the slab. Taking that water underground to a lower outlet keeps it off the foundation and off the lawn.

The line has to fall all the way to its outlet so it empties between storms. See underground downspout drainage for how those lines are laid and what moves their cost.

Who do I call for yard drainage in Glenpool?

For water on your own lot, a drainage contractor such as Justin. For a street, city ditch or storm inlet, the City of Glenpool. Outside city limits, Tulsa County.

Why does water sit behind my newer Glenpool house?

Usually the lot was graded flat or settled after the builder left, so rain has no fall to follow. Regrading or a drain to an outlet gives it a route.

What changes the price of a Glenpool drainage job?

The fix chosen, the distance to an outlet, access, the state of any roadside ditch or culvert, and restoration. Justin prices it after a walk-through.

Can the roof water from a Glenpool shop be piped underground?

Usually, yes. Downspouts are tied into buried pipe and carried with steady fall to a lower outlet, as long as the lot has somewhere for the water to go.

Where can drainage water go on a Glenpool lot?

To daylight at a lower point, into a ditch, or into an existing storm outlet. If none of those is available, you should hear that at the walk-through, before any trench is dug.
